Following his collegiate soccer career, Joel played adult volleyball in the Lone Star region of USA Volleyball (USAV) where he won four regional championships as a player prior to beginning his coaching career. Joel began coaching volleyball in the North Texas region where he won a Junior National Championship, in 2005. His teams have won two state high School championships, with Bishop Lynch HS, in 2004, and Haldane HS, in 2007. Joel was also the head coach of Div. II, Concordia College. From 2006 to 2012 he was the Garden Empire Volleyball Association’s (GEVA) Junior Competition Director. His Downstate teams have won the GEVA open regional championship 7 times and earned bids to the USAV Girls’ Junior National Championships 9 times.
Joel is the proud father of three children. His daughter is a graduate of the US Air Force Academy, where she was a starting setter for 3 years. She is a cyber security expert on active duty as a Captain in the US Air Force. One son recently graduated from Boston University and his youngest son is in college.
